little memories.

is there anything sweeter than remembering little moments that have been buried in your memories?

like in june 2010 when i was (stupidly) mad at you for not making plans with me after work,
so i ditched you for the farmer's market on 8th & D
and took pictures of the fresh produce
and you weren't even bothered by it one bit
and even said my pictures were the "something good" that came out of it
and talked about how you wanted to frame them on our walls someday.

or how every time i put cinnamon on my pancakes i am reminded of that summer we spent nearly entirely indoors
perfecting an orange cinnamon pancake recipe and watching adventure time on the floor
and didn't regret it one bit.

or how that lower picture reminds me of the time we watched shutter island twice in a row
because we were mesmerized by the imagery
and finally we decided we should get out of the house
even though it was pouring rain outside.
we didn't care.
we walked around penn quarter trying to decide where to eat,
being seated and ordering only water at about three beautiful restaurants
before deciding we didn't really want to eat at any of them,
and how we actually ended up getting chop't to go
so we could go home to watch shutter island again.

and how looking at certain pictures
i can almost smell the awful stench of your old apartment building.

and how i always drive past the bleachers in that park where we shared our awkward first kiss.

i think these things bury themselves in my mind on purpose...
making me search for them in some kind of treasure hunt
and all these little things in life are the clues on the map
that lead me to you
even when we are apart.

these little memories are buried treasures i hold dear.

adam reid,
i love you madly.

do you know where the wild things go?

have you seen this?
answer: probably.

me? i'm late to the game.
my dear sister, hannah, showed it to me
and

i cannot stop watching it.
it's so mesmerizing!
and so very intense, if i might say so.

also,
this song rocks.

thanks, hannah!

(ok. i know videos rarely get watched when posted on blogs. but this one is a goodie. i mean, there are lines from where the wild things are. so ... watch! might not be your cup of tea... i love it but i'm just a huge fan of raw emotion. huge.)

where my life has been lately.

dance dance dance!

i've been rehearsing
& driving
& giving pep talks
& braiding hairs
& helping to put on fake eyelashes
& burning cd's
& stretching
& giving pointers
& dancing!

i love my dancers so, so much.
i don't know what my life would be like without them!

'tis the season for recitals, concerts, competitions, & performances
and it's completely taking up every breath and every blink of every second of every day
and i love it.

I LOVE IT!

i probably have the best job in the world.

earth day.

happy earth day!
i really love this holiday.
it's moved to a more conservation/preservation focus over these years,
but i still appreciate that we have a day where we just celebrate the earth!

i am serious about my love for it.

if you follow me on other social media outlets,
you know that i've spent the weekend away at a dance competition with my students.

one of my (little!) students came up to me and told me that the drive up there was so boring
because her ipod died halfway through
and her ipad didn't have a charge either
so she just had to sit and look out the window.
sooo boring.

i was like...
"whaaaaa?"
because looking out the window on a canyon drive is, like, one of the best things ever!
sheesh, kid!

after that i started paying attention to how little attention we pay to the natural world.
it was pretty darn exhausting!

so,
after a weekend of rhinestones, blasting music, stages, and time spent entirely indoors...
i'm excited to spend this entire earth day OUTSIDE!
we don't spend enough time out there, if you ask me.

have a happy day where you appreciate all the natural and beautiful things that surround you!

life in color: your favorite color when you don't even realize it.

i've been walking around telling people my favorite color is pink (specifically this shade)

until...

one of my dancers pointed to my phone case and asked if it was my favorite color
because i can be found sporting it more often than not.

it was then i realized that i am completely drawn to that color.
most of the items of clothing i have purchased recently are that color,
my nails have been that color,
a new necklace is that color,
and i keep pinning images with that color in them

and i didn't even realize it!

i love that color
because it makes me feel like i want to be more of who i am.
it makes me feel so happy!

because it's spring,
i've also been attracted to lilac/lavender.
it was a happy accident that i paired these two colors together over the weekend and fell in love with the combo!

take a look at the two colors side by side...

01. nail polish / 02. lavender hair / 03. shirtdress / 04. typewriter / 05. crossbody bag
 06. flower crown / 07. chair / 08. green tea ice cream / 09. flats

this whole thing prompted me to look through my belongings to see what other colors i'm drawn to.
turns out,
i'm pretty drawn to red
(which looks amazing with the color combo above. just sayin'.).

so,
challenge issued:
is there a color you are subconsciously drawn to?
